Joseph PallantJoseph Pallant

Joseph loves building economic solutions to environmental problems. With a decade of work in environmental finance, he continues his dedication to building vibrant, effective and scalable carbon markets. Joseph’s current focus is building the Brinkman Climate business line, and developing emissions reductions projects across the built environment, clean tech, forestry, waste and agriculture sectors.

Through his early work on Kyoto CDM forest carbon projects in Latin America, he gained a commitment to the principles of cap-and-trade and the concept of an offset. During the exciting early days of the North American carbon market, Joseph recognized the need for nimble, expert advice to help project developers and technology owners “turn action into offset”. This lead to his founding of Carbon Project Solutions in 2006, and the adventurous work of creating new offset protocols, writing first-of project design documents and developing great offset projects. The overriding goal? Getting CO2 out of the atmosphere and proving the carbon market works.

Keenly aware of the need for constructive discourse on solutions to climate change, Joseph participates in media engagement, public speaking, graduate student mentorship and assisting in academic research.

Joseph holds a B.Sc. in Biology and Environmental Studies from University of Victoria, a Post Graduate Diploma in Latin American Management from the McRae Institute of International Management and a MBA from Institut des Hautes Etudes Economiques et Commerciales, Paris, France.

Beyond an encompassing enthusiasm for helping humanity address climate change, a love of people, progress, wilderness and adventure keep Joseph well engaged.
